As winter in Australia is oh so warm and sunny, the Brits inside us craved to feel the crisp bite of frosty air on our cheeks (yes, life is hard!) It was time to take Priscilla (our Jeep – named thus by her previous family as she’s Queen of the Desert) up to the snowy Blue Mountains.
At less than 2 hours drive from Bondi beach, Leura makes for an easy weekend getaway. Driving west rather than battling the bridge means less traffic on the way out too. A happy Ollie, and therefore a happy me. I enjoyed joyous conversation rather than angry brow furrowing.
We booked ourselves into an air bnb in Leura. Knowing nothing about any of the towns and wanting to be near the three sisters it was a serendipitous choice. Leura is far prettier and just all round nicer than neighboring Katoomba.
Saturday; walking Darwin’s passage into the Wentworth Falls circuit. All in all about a 4 hour round trip including a half hour coffee stop.
We neatly rounded off the day with dinner at Beyond Vintage wine bar.
Sunday; we woke up inside a cloud, making it a bit difficult to see anything. We ventured along the Leura Falls walk as far as we felt safe to and then headed to the Three Sisters viewing station.
